Detail Solar was founded in part to help local residents in Greenville take advantage of solar energy and the many benefits it provides. But our team always had another vision in mind.
As Americans, we are blessed with so much — more than most people in the world could ever imagine. We've heard the story of the Good Samaritan, and we believe that story applies to us individually and as a company. We've been blessed, and we are called to help others who are not so fortunate.
In January of 2014, myself (founder Paul Zimmer Sr.) and my wife and kids were serving as missionaries in Yap, Micronesia. Through the generous support of a Bob Jones Bible Conference offering, we were able to begin building a school for the children of Yap.
We take the resources from Detail Solar to rescue kids in Yap. Faith Christian Academy continues to educate and provide care for children in need on the island of Yap. These children receive not only an education, but also food, shelter, and the love of Christ.

Powering a Small Island

The first power on multiple islands in Micronesia is power that we installed. In 2008, the islands of Micronesia were still largely without reliable electricity. Through a partnership funded in part by the European Development Fund (EDF), Detail Solar was part of the team that brought solar-powered electricity to communities that had never had it before.
These installations transformed daily life — enabling education, healthcare, and economic opportunity for thousands of people living on remote Pacific islands. It is a mission we are proud of, and one that continues to drive our work in Greenville and beyond.
