The Service

What is
detach & reset?

Detach and reset involves carefully removing solar panels from a building's roof so other work can proceed, then reinstalling them once it's complete. Our technicians safely remove each panel, store them properly, and reset every one after the roofing work is done. Common reasons include:

  • Leak repair
  • Reroofing
  • Roof upgrades
  • Solar upgrades
  • Weather damage
  • Roof inspections
  • Structural changes to the building

How It Works

Our detach & reset process.

Frequently Asked Questions

Detach & reset,
plainly explained.

Can my roofer just take the solar panels off?

We do not recommend it. Equipment warranties and the new roof warranty both suffer when an uncertified crew removes an array. We handle the solar work; your roofer handles the roof.

Will detach and reset void my solar warranty?

Our 25-year workmanship guarantee covers the reinstall. Manufacturer equipment warranties typically want a qualified solar company to do the removal and reset, which is the point of hiring us.

Does insurance cover detach and reset after a storm?

Often the solar removal and reinstall can be a line item on a roof claim. Ask your adjuster. We can document the solar portion. We do not quote a price on this page.

When should I call you relative to the roofer?

As soon as you have a roofing estimate. Panels must come off before tear-off. Calling after the roofing crew is booked is the usual scheduling mistake.

Do you detach systems you did not install?

Yes. Orphaned arrays and other companies’ systems are a normal detach job for us.
