New solar installs
How does a new solar install work?
It starts with a free in-person consultation, where we walk the property and review your bills with no obligation. Then we put together a custom proposal, and then we do the install.
How much does a new system cost?
We quote cost after the free consultation, because every roof and every home is different.
Do you install EV chargers?
Yes. We install EV chargers.
Can you mount solar on a barn or commercial roof?
Yes. We have mounted systems on barns and commercial roofs.
Do you install batteries?
Yes, we do batteries, including for homes that do not have solar panels. We add a battery to an existing solar system, and we diagnose and repair Tesla Powerwall and Enphase IQ Battery systems, including ones we did not install. A battery quote starts with the utility on your bill and whether your inverter can take storage.
Do you offer financing?
Yes. Flexible financing options, including $0-down plans, are available. Ask us during your free consultation and we'll help find a structure that fits your budget.
Repairs, cleaning and roof work
Do you repair systems you did not install?
Yes, we repair any brand, including systems we did not install. That covers inverter, optimizer and microinverter faults, storm damage, chewed wiring, monitoring problems and error codes.
How much does a repair cost?
We quote a repair after the crew has looked at the system. A battery service visit is different: it is a flat inspection fee that covers the battery and the whole setup, roof included.
How do you clean solar panels?
Yes, we clean solar panels, and we clean gutters too.
What if my roof needs work?
We detach and reset the system for roof work: we take the array off, your roofer does the roof, then we reinstall it and test it. We don't recommend having the roofer pull the array.
Do you clean gutters?
Yes. We clean gutters, and it can be done along with a panel cleaning.
How often should panels be cleaned?
We recommend cleaning your panels at least once a year, ideally after the spring pollen season.
Do you handle critters or birds under panels?
Yes. We handle critter and bird problems under solar panels ourselves, including cleaning the panels and installing squirrel guard around the array.
Do you remove wasp nests?
Wasps and wasp nests are not one of our services. What we do handle under panels is critters and birds: cleaning the panels and installing squirrel guard.
Will your servicing void my battery warranty, and what does a battery service visit cost?
Servicing by Detail Solar does not void the battery manufacturer's warranty. Some installers tie their own warranty to who does the work, so check with the original installer first. If the installer is gone, the manufacturer can often troubleshoot remotely when the system is online. For a battery service visit we charge a flat inspection fee that covers the battery and the whole setup, roof included. We contact the manufacturer first to see if they can fix it remotely, and when a visit is needed we can usually get a technician out within a week, depending on availability.
Warranty
What warranty do you offer?
Every system Detail Solar installs comes with a 25-year roof penetration warranty and 5-year labor warranty, including systems we reinstall after a detach and reset, even when another company did the original install.
Does my old installer's warranty still apply?
Our 25-year roof penetration warranty and 5-year labor warranty cover every system Detail Solar installs, including detach-and-reset reinstalls of systems another company first installed. Whether an old installer's labor warranty still applies depends on your contract.
My installer stopped answering. What can I do?
We can help service the system. Call us or send a request and the crew will take a look.
